New Chapter of Capital Metro: ZTRS Participates in the Opening of Phase I of Beijing Metro Line 3

Most cities with well-developed rail transit systems have Line 3, but in China, Beijing, the capital, is an exception, lacking a subway Line 3 for a long time. In 1973, Beijing's first comprehensive urban rail transit network plan was compiled, officially introducing the concept of' Line 3. 'After more than half a century of anticipation, on December 15,2024, good news arrived: the first phase of Beijing Metro Line 3, a project undertaken by ZTRS, successfully began trial operations. This marks the full coverage of all seven Beijing railway stations and two airports by the subway system, ushering in a new era for Beijing's metro and writing a significant chapter in the continuous advancement of urban rail transit.

Deep experience, calm

Prior to the construction of Line 3, ZTRS had already been involved in the development of Beijing Subway Lines 5 and 10 Phase I, the Changping Line, the Yizhuang Line, Line 7 Phase I, and the southern extension of the Changping Line. Notably, the Changping Line set a record for the fastest construction period at the time, earning a strong reputation. These projects provided ZTRS with extensive experience, laying a solid foundation for future projects.

The Phase I project of Beijing Subway Line 3, which includes communication and other systems, is a complex and diverse system comprising 18 subsystems across five major systems. This system is crucial for ensuring the subway's safe, efficient, and intelligent operation. Since winning the bid on January 21,2019, ZTRS has been on a challenging journey against the clock. Given the extensive scope of the project, only ten months were allocated for the communication engineering phase.

The project must be launched within ten months, under immense pressure. From the debugging of equipment compatibility to the strict control of project progress, every step has been challenging. However, drawing on the experience from previous projects, all departments of the company worked closely together, demonstrating a strong sense of unity and determination. They delivered the project to high standards and with high quality, showcasing their robust technical capabilities and strong execution.

Scientific and technological innovation has produced many bright spots

The first phase of Beijing Subway Line 3 has achieved significant technological innovation. The video intelligent analysis system in the communication system acts as the 'smart eye' of the subway, while the water accumulation detection function outside the station provides a robust safety barrier for the entrances and exits. The wheelchair and stroller monitoring functions demonstrate a strong sense of humanistic care. The integrated vehicle-ground bearing system enables cross-line interconnectivity, breaking down the barriers of line information. The deep integration and resource sharing between the communication systems of Dongba North Station and Line 12 have pioneered a new model of multi-line coordinated development, providing valuable experience for the intelligent operation of urban rail transit, thereby enhancing overall operational efficiency and service quality.

Looking forward to the future, we will make a new beginning

For a megacity like Beijing, the development of urban rail transit is crucial for alleviating traffic congestion, reducing environmental pollution, and promoting urban development. Looking ahead, ZTRS will continue to lead the industry by actively participating in the construction of Beijing's urban rail transit, continuously innovating in technology, maintaining high-quality service, and contributing to the travel needs of the capital's residents.
